Fukrey Returns Movie Review
FUKREY RETURNS REVIEW: In ‘Fukrey Returns’, you don’t surely have to watch the first part of the film, because the director clearly describes the entire story in the opening credits. Although, it’s a fun film which we recommend you to watch. So is this one. In fact, it is funnier than the first part of the film (Fukrey). That same craziness you’ve seen in the characters is not just back; it has doubled, in fact.
This time, Lali (rich Chadha) is out of prison and she is broke. She wants a lot more money from them and once again uses their special skills to fill her pocket and repay the scheming politician Bhatia who secured her early release. As always, their scheme to pay Lali goes wrong and they are dragged in deeper as newer villains emerge who also want a piece of the action.
The strongest fact of the film is the performances of the actors. And once again, the scene stealer is Varun Sharma as Choocha, the amiable weirdo with superpowers to watch bizarre dreams which win him a lottery. In this part of the film, his powers have extended, but sadly his mind hasn’t and he still pronounces Goa as Goya and still can’t get over the fact that Lali does not love him (as always). The real surprise is the measured comedy timing by Pankaj Tripathi as Panditji, the scheming college watchman. With his tremendous comic timing, he leaves you in splits in a majority of the scenes which he is in. The rest of the cast, too, have attempted their roles perfectly. The second half of the movie is plot-heavy and feels a lil bit stretched out. Although, the jokes keep coming which make it bearable.
Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani with director Mrighdeep Singh Lamba have created a successful franchise, and there is ample scope to make a Fukrey 3, but this time, we hope it doesn’t take them four years to do so.
